The Future of Sport Management
Since our inception in the Fall of 2008, ADS has evolved tremendously into a powerful force within the sport management industry. As part of the esteemed Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management, arguably the nation's best program, ADS has created an elite network of young professionals prepared to make their marks on the sport industry.
Members of ADS graduate with practical experiences and knowledge that give them a significant advantage versus the job competition. ADS functions as a business organization, with a diverse group of individuals uniting to accomplish shared goals, but we are a team. Furthermore, ADS is a family, as our members truly take pride in each other's successes, push them to work harder, and are always ready to lend a helping hand in times of need.
Our flagship event is the Sport Management Career Fair, the first of its kind in UMass history. The first annual Career Fair was nominated for "Outstanding Event of the Year," and we hope to bring that title home with this year's bigger and better edition. This past spring, we continued to push the envelope with "Who is LeBron?" a panelist event that conducted a critical examination to determine the historical and cultural significance of this polarizing figure.
We host a charity basketball tournament, "Hoops for Hope," that has benefited the victims of the earthquakes in Haiti and Japan. ADS also prides itself on actively participating in community service initiatives, including the Run for Tara.
Our commitment to innovation and excellence has net us great achievements and accolades thus far...but we've only just begun.
Sincerely,
The Association of Diversity in Sport
